Marketing and Events Coordinator

The Marketing and Events Coordinator is responsible for leading consumer marketing efforts and for oversight of strategic marketing project and event management.

 

Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Create and plan social media strategy
  • Measure and track performance and increase traffic social media platforms
  • Identify and execute potential advertising opportunities
  • Identify potential markets and develop strategies to meet demands
  • Maintain sponsor and community partner relationships
  • Manage customer newsletter strategy
  • Research value adding items for league members, sponsors, and partners
  • Create website content and sports league blurbs
  • General marketing (flyer distribution, event presence, etc.)

 

Event Planning Responsibilities:

  • Creation of project Gantt charts
  • Creation and adherence to event budget
  • Scheduling of venues, sponsors, vendors, and entertainment
  • Selection of promotional items and merchandise
  • Scheduling of volunteers and employees
  • Plan and participate in promotional activities and trade shows
  • Manage the marketing of events, including promotions and advertisements
  • Creation and management of action item register
  • Creation and management of lessons learned register
  • Execute promotional activities including print, social media, event presence, etc.

 

Qualifications:

  • Great attention to detail and good decision making skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as take ownership of projects and lead a team
  • Previous experience with project budgeting and cost accounting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite a plus (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, etc.)
  • Experience with Hootsuite, MailChimp, and iContact preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include nights and/or weekends
  • Previous experience playing sports and planning social events a plus
  • Minimum 3-5  years of marketing and project management experience
  • Bachelor's degree (required) with a major in sports management, marketing, advertising, communications, business administration, journalism, web/graphic design, etc.
